Harlem Lofts, Inc., President and Founder Robert “Robb” Pair (above) recently embarked on a fact-finding mission to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to explore ways to further support communities in Harlem and Africa through his new charitable nonprofit Harlem World Reach. The week-long journey focused on identifying opportunities in East Africa that Robb can combine with his local efforts here in Harlem that focus on educational opportunities for children.

Even though Robb admits he has the limited nonprofit experience, he will personally fund Harlem World Reach, in the beginning, to help provide a solid foundation for the new organization. To further support this venture, he will also tap into the three Harlem-based companies he founded over the past two decades. “I am proud to say with certainty that Harlem Lofts, Inc., is already scheduled to donate a portion of its 2018 proceeds.” Harlem Property Management, Inc., Vice President James Simari, and Harlem Property Re+Development’s Craig Rothfeld are also currently working with Robb to discuss various options for formalizing a structure to donate to the new cause.

“Empty your wallet into a child’s head, and no one can ever rob him.”

Harlem World Reach will be shaped by the guiding principle Robb learned from his grandfather, John Gorman Kuptz, who always used to say, “Empty your wallet into a child’s head, and no one can ever rob him.” Based on this principle, the primary goal of Harlem World Reach is to directly benefit the children of Harlem and the children of Africa through education. Eventually, the aim will be to expand this offering to other nations in, and even beyond, Africa.
